Summer 2005
Living mostly in Hawaii, working on the masterpiece - the land. All thebros and sisters pouring blood, sweat, and tears into a piece of land, aspace that we call home.
Living there at first was a little rough. Sleeping under tarps. All thetrails turned to mud after constant walking. Catching the rain to drink, but mostly have to bring up water in a container. Building our kitchen on pallets, all uneven. Dishes start to pile up because we run out of rain
water. Soon, after a few months of hard work, we cindered our trails, got a four-burner stove and oven, and more trash cans to store rain in. Built my own deck from recycled pallets and wood with a screened in guava pole dome
and running my sewing machine off my truck. Finding lots of inspiration from doing my creations in a rain forest.
To the summer mission called the '05 odyssey involving the Discovery Channel network, going to Indonesia to surf and bring relief, but in a unique Jali way. Gathering scrap and earth off the beaches and tsunami-ravaged villages and weaving them into my clothing creations to auction off in Japan and Hollywood and donating a portion of the proceeds to a needy village. Then when we were in Japan, hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, making us feel we
should donate some proceeds there as well.
The trip was fun. Some good friends of mine got to join courtesy of the Discovery network. Look for the show airing around November-December '05 or stay tuned to jalian.net.
So for the most part enjoying and loving life, learning to be open to where my adventures take me, constantly learning about life's dualities, especially construction and creation in this time where Earth seems to be going through some cleansing.
